Description
Students read and discuss the short stories “On the Rainy River” by Tim O’Brien and “The Red Convertible” by Louise Erdrich, analyzing the authors’ uses of structure and point of view to relate the experiences of the protagonists/narrators regarding the Vietnam War. In their own narrative writing, students practice establishing a point of view, crafting engaging introductions, and using narrative techniques to develop experiences, events, and characters.
