Description
In this lesson, students read and analyze chapters XVII–XVIII of The Awakening. In this excerpt, Edna and Mr. Pontellier have an argument about societal obligations and Edna tries to destroy her wedding ring; Edna also joins the Ratignolles for dinner. Students work in small groups to discuss the development of central ideas in chapters XVII–XVIII.
