In this lesson, students continue drafting the body paragraphs of their narratives by focusing on incorporating the narrative techniques of pacing and dialogue. Students begin by examining body paragraphs from the article, “The Flight of Apollo 11,” and the narrative model College Application Essay, focusing on the use of pacing and dialogue to develop experiences, events, or characters within each narrative. Students then participate in a brief activity centered around developing distinct character voices. Finally, students draft their own body paragraphs, continuing the work done in Lesson 7.
