In this lesson, students finish reading and analyzing the article “The Flight of Apollo 11” by Kenneth F. Weaver (from “Dr. Gary V. Latham of Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory” to “What is man, that thou art mindful of him?”). In this final portion of the article, the author describes some of the scientific accomplishments on Apollo 11 and reflects on the meaning of the mission as well as the future of space travel. Students are also introduced to audio and video sources to assist them in gathering material for their own narrative drafts.
