How Far Away Is the Moon?

Description

In Lesson 20, students learn how to approximate the distance of the moon from the earth. Around the same time that Eratosthenes approximated the circumference of the earth, Greek astronomer Aristarchus found a way to determine the distance to the moon. Less of the history is provided in the lesson, as a more comprehensive look at eclipses had to be included alongside the central calculations.
