Description
This lesson starts with triangles in the Cartesian plane. Students discover that the height of a triangle can be calculated using the sine function for rotations that correspond to angles between 0° and 180°. They create convincing arguments as they calculate the areas of various triangles and eventually generalize their work to derive a formula for the area of any oblique triangle.
