Complex Numbers as Solutions to Equations

Description

This lesson models how to solve quadratic equations over the set of complex numbers. Students relate the sign of the discriminant to the nature of the solution set for a quadratic equation. Continue to encourage students to make connections between graphs of a quadratic equation, 𝑦 = 𝑎𝑥 2 + 𝑏𝑥 +𝑐, and the number and type of solutions to the equation 𝑎𝑥 2 +𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 = 0.
