Description
Students will listen to two masterful readings of Emily Dickinson’s poem “I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,” and share initial reactions and questions. A sequence of questions orients students to the poem and scaffold comprehension by focusing on particular words and phrases in the poem. Students will consider specific lines from the poem that begin to address the central idea and Dickinson’s structural choices, concepts upon which Lessons 10 and 11 will continue to build.
