Students analyze paragraph 14 through the text’s conclusion, in which the narrator finally admits his murderous deed to the police. Students will examine how Poe drives the story toward the narrator’s confession in the last paragraph and consider how a new idea, guilt, emerges and develops in the resolution of the story.
