Romeo, Tybalt, and Mercutio


Description

Student pairs read Act 3.1, lines 59–110, in which Tybalt kills Mercutio, and analyze how Shakespeare develops Romeo’s character through his interactions with Tybalt and Mercutio. Prior to reading, students view a clip of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet that depicts the marriage of Romeo and Juliet.
