Description
In this lesson, students read and analyze pages 22–47 of The Namesake, in which Ashima and Ashoke name their child Gogol, and Ashima begins to develop her identity as a mother. Students work in small groups to answer guiding discussion questions focused on how the central ideas of identity and home develop within the excerpt.
