Description

In this lesson, students read and analyze Jimmy Santiago Baca’s poem “A Daily Joy to Be Alive.” Students read the poem in its entirety and consider how the speaker describes his dream of pursuing an ideal version of himself. Students analyze the development of central ideas in the poem.
