Figurative Language


Description

In this lesson, students continue to read and analyze Henry David Thoreau’s “Civil Disobedience.” Students read part 1, paragraphs 5–6, in which Thoreau analyzes the ways in which people serve the state. Students consider how Thoreau uses figurative language to develop a central idea in the text.
