Cast Down your Bucket


Description

In this lesson, students read and analyze paragraph 5 of the “Atlanta Compromise Speech,” in which Washington advises white Americans to work with African Americans to ensure the success of the South. Students explore how Washington refines the phrase “[c]ast down your bucket” in paragraph 5 to further develop his point of view.
