How Events Shape a Central Idea

Description

In this lesson, students read paragraphs 9–11 of “A Genetics of Justice” in which Alvarez describes the series of events that lead to her family’s return to the Dominican Republic and the necessary humiliations they must endure to escape Trujillo’s grip. Students analyze how the events that Alvarez unfolds develop an idea central to the text.
