In this lesson, students continue their exploration of Marlowe’s “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love.” Students read stanzas 3–6 of the poem, in which the shepherd tries to convince his love to accept his initial invitation. Students analyze the shepherd’s promises to his love, focusing on the cumulative impact of Marlowe’s pastoral imagery on the meaning and tone of his poem.
